3-day outback and rainforest safari in off-road vehicle, including wilderness lodge accommodation in a tropical forest!

Day 1: So  Split Rock - Cooktown
Depart for the Great Dividing Ranges. In Mareeba visit the Coffee Works Roastery, then stop to observe waterbirds at Lake Mitchell wetlands. Continue your tour across the Palmer River (historic gold fields) and on to Split Rock in Quinkan Country. A short walk to view the approx 20000 years old Aboriginal rock paintings and stencils. In the afternoon arrive at your rainforest lodge, your accommodation for the next two nights. Relax, or alternatively go for a stroll along the creek, before its time for dinner.

Day 2: Mo  Cooktown
After breakfast drive past Black Mountain National Park to Cooktown, where in 1770 Captain Cook hoisted the Union Jack and claimed the Australian continent for England. The view from Grassy Hill over the Endeavour River and the Coral Sea is breathtaking. A short drive brings you to picturesque Quarantine Beach. In the afternoon visit the interesting James Cook Museum, a former convent school. After a stroll along the foreshore and a refreshing stop in the famous „Lions Den Pub“ in Helensvale, return to the lodge.

Day 3: Di  Daintree National Park - Cairns
Today depart your wilderness oasis and travel on the dusty Bloomfield Track to Stingray Bay. The Barrier Reef is in often in sight just offshore. Cross the tidal Bloomfield River on the new bridge and take in the tree giants and mangroves at Cape Tribulation. Drive onto the cable ferry to cross the mighty Daintree River, then enjoy a river cruise. There is a good chance to encounter saltwater crocodiles. Via Port Douglas and down the Coral Coast return to Palm Cove and Cairns. B, L


Inclusions: Touring in off-road vehicle with a qualified German and/or English speaking driver-guide, comfortable lodge cabin accommodation with ensuite, 5 meals, museum entry, boat and ferry cruise, national park fees.

Pick-up from Cairns & Northern Beaches hotels from 08.00, tour starts approx 08.30 / tour ends at Hotel ~18.00 hrs. Due to traffic conditions an exact pick-up time can't be given.
